Situated at Sahastradhara Road, 5 km from Dehradun city, is the Khalanga War Memorial. It is the one and only memorial known in the world where the enemy built it to honour their opponent. The memorial was constructed after the battle of Nalapani fought in 1814 between the Britishers and the Gorkha Regiment. It was built by Britishers to honour the Gorkha army and there General Balbhadra Thapa along with General Gilapsy of the British army who fought bravely for their countries. The tribute depicts the brave stories and the unmatched bravery of the Gorkhas who made our country proud.
