Built in 1772, the Deeg fort has located very close to Agra. The Roop Sagar river flows along this fort where it stands. This fort was made to strengthen the security forces on the town. This fort is a magnificent tourist attraction in Deeg. There is a very historic past to this fort. In 1730, Maharaja Suraj Mal constructed this fort and became the first capital if the Jat state of Bharatpur.  The architecture of this fortress is highly influenced by Mughal architecture especially the Mughal Charbagh. There is a lawn in each of the four corners of the fortress and a walkway in the middle. Roop Sagar and Gobind Sagar are the two rivers flowing through either side of the fort. This helps to keep the fort cool during high temperatures. There is an ancient cannon on the roof, specifically used during warfare. This fort has a lot of history to it.
