Situated in the Sivaganga district of Tamil Nadu, Chettinad was initially ruled by Ramnad kingdom of Pandya Nadu. The word "Chetti" literally means wealthy. Chettinad doesn't have its own airport however it is well connected to all parts of Tamil Nadu. The nearest airport to Chettinad is at Tiruchirapalli. From here one can always rent a car or hire a taxi to reach Chettinad.

There are two nearest airports to Chettinad, on in Tiruchirapalli and the other in Madurai(Madurai International Airport). The former is 20 km away from Chettinad. Cars and cabs are easily available from both these airports.
