A sub-division of the district, it is located 25 kilometers from the border of Assam. The Patkai-Bum mountain ranges surround that area, are an eastern extension of the Himalayas surround the area. It is a popular tourist location owing to the Namdapha Tiger Project situated here. A stay at the Namdapha Jungle Camp is sure to tickle your senses. It is set on the banks of a river where you get to enjoy homely and authentic local cuisine, along with staying in Bamboo huts with thatched roofs. Prior booking is a must, but it is sure to be worth the while. The town is home to many Tibetan refugees and a shopping spree in the settlement would yield some lovely woolen carpets. Other attractions of the town are opium and tea plantations, and a mini zoo and museums.
