Chandannagar Tourism

Chandan Nagar is a small district in the interiors of West Bengal. Chandan Nagar has been ruled by three prominent reigns. It was initially ruled by the Nawabs, however, history doesn't have records of the Nawabs ruling Chandan Nagar. French colonial rule is significantly prominent in history. It is said that the French created this town with the amalgamation of various small towns around the area. The British colonial era saw Chandan Nagar lose its throne to the East India Company and was under the British reign. The influence of these various colonial rules and exposure to different cultures makes it a very diverse town. An interesting fact about Chandan Nagar is that, like every other French colony, Chandan Nagar also came under Pondicherry.

Chandan Nagar has many tourist locations to visit that will keep you engaged in the city. Some of them are Chandan Nagar Museum and Institue, Chandan Nagar Strand, The Underground House etc. Chandan Nagar reflects Bengali culture and heritage. It proudly speaks of the history that went into making this small district residing near the Hoogly river.

It rests assured that one will feel the Bengali heritage in this place and be mesmerised by its history.
