Bodhgaya, which is the most important Buddhist pilgrimage site is located along the banks of Neranjana river in Bihar. Gautama Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree here. Pilgrims from all around the world visit this village throughout the year. The popular attractions here are the Mahabodhi Temple and the Bodhi Tree. The temple is located near the Mahabodhi tree. Bodh Gaya is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Tourists prefer monastery guest houses than hotels. These are usually cheaper. Hotels are also available but will be full during peak seasons, book in advance.

Restaurants and Food
Bodh Gaya is famous for sweets. There are numerous restaurants which serve North Indian and Bihari cuisine. Non-vegetarian food and alcohol are not available due to the religious significance of the village.
