Lalji Temple

#2 of 12 things to do in Bishnupur

The Lalji temple in Bishnupur committed to Sri Radhika and Sri Krishna, which stands on a high point, is of the Bengali style of engineering. In its verandah is safeguarded a stone section with has an engraving in Bengali characters recording the erection of a Navaratna temple of Krishna by Rani Lakshmanavati, spouse of Raja Hari Narayan. Before the Lalji temple is a natmandir or dancing lobby, toward the west of which stands an Orissan tower with a patio in front devoted to Raghunathji. The external yard is isolated from the inward by a divider and contains a little Pancharatna temple of Kameswar Siva with an engraving dated 1577 Saka.
