Gajner Palace

#11 of 15 things to do in Bikaner

The Gajner Palace in Bikaner is a gem in the Thar Desert. It was established by His Highness Maharaja Sir Ganga Singh of Bikaner on the banks of a lake. The sumptuous castle is sprayed over 6000 acres. The appeal of the place is its, incredible background and leisurely way of life. One can traverse a world of colourful nature-walks, boat rides on the lake, sanctuary dinners and desert safaris. One of Rajasthan’s ‘best-kept secret’, and was primarily developed as a hunting retreat during the primes of the British Raj. The royal palace has entertained various dignitaries, including the Prince of Wales in 1905, Governor General Lord Elgin, Lord Erwin in 1927 and also Lord Mountbatten when he was Viceroy of India.
