Dhuandhar Falls

#2 of 4 things to do in Bhedaghat

Dhuandar Falls is located in Bhedaghat, which falls in the Jabalpur district and is of a height of 98 feet. The name has been derived from two hindi words, ‘Dhuan’ which means smoke and ‘Dhar’ which means flow, which means a waterfall which has a smoke-flow like feeling and thus it is also known as Smoke Cascade. It is one of the highest waterfalls in India. There are cable car services available from the entrance gate of Bhedaghat which starts from the eastern bank of the river and drops people at the west bank of the river. It is formed by Narmada River which makes its way through the Marble Rocks, then narrows down and forms a waterfall. Dhuandar Falls should be visited during Sharad Purnima, as Narmada Mahotsav is celebrated at that time. The moonlight falls on the white marbles and gives it a silver appearance; it is a spectacular sight and should not be missed. The tranquillity of the falls keeps the tourists mesmerized and gives them a splendid experience. Boating activities are also popular near the waterfalls from November-May.
