Laxman Temple

#4 of 6 things to do in Bharatpur

Situated in the centre of the market area in Bharatpur, the Lakshman temple is one of the prominent shrines in the city. Believed to be almost 400 years old. The temple situated in the heart of the city is built as a tribute to Lakshman, the brother of God Rama. Legends have it, the temple was established by the sage Naaga Baba. Built-in Rajasthani style of architecture, the temple attracts a number of tourists and devotees every year. Not too far from this, there is yet another temple dedicated to Lord Lakshman and his wife Urmila. The idols are made from a combination of 8 metals called “Astadhaatu.” These temples, with their stories deeply rooted in ancient Hindu mythology and their magnificent architectural details, are a must visit once you are in Bharatpur.
