The town is dusty, noisy and not particularly visitor-friendly, the Park is worth visiting and spending your time. Apart from the park, Bharatpur also has a few historic ruins too. Bharatpur also hosts the boisterous and colourful Brij Festival just prior to Holi celebrations.  Other tourist attractions include the Lohagarh Fort, Fateh, Laxman Mandir, Bharatpur Palace, Deeg, Ganga Mandir, etc.

Bharatpur is well connected by road from Agra (56-kms, 1 hour), Delhi (184-kms, 4 hours) and Jaipur (176-kms, 3 hours).

Local Cuisine

Bharatpur is famous for its exquisite Rajasthani cuisine. Dining in Bharatpur is typically done at the in-house restaurants. You can always try out authentic Rajasthani or Mughlai cuisine along with some traditional delicacies on roadside eateries. The simple north Rajasthani dishes like Pyaaz Kachori, Mawa Kachori, Aloo ki subzi etc are must try once you are in Bharatpur. Since most restaurants here close by 10:30 PM you might need you to make your dinner plans accordingly.

Bharatpur Itinerary

Day 1:  Reach by early morning and after the breakfast, head to Keoladeo Ghana National Wildlife Sanctuary. Spent the day return back to the town in the evening. After an evening refreshment head towards the market for shopping. Spent the night.

Day 2: After the breakfast, head towards Ganga Mandir and Banke Bihari Temple. Post lunch moves toward the Lohagarh Fort and then the Lakshman temple. Head back from Bharatpur to Agra in the evening.
