Bandhavgarh National Park is known as a popular Tiger Reserve National Park of India. Located in the district of Umaria in Madhya Pradesh, it is the best place to see the famous Royal Bengal Tigers prowling in its natural habitat. The huge park is divided into three main zones, Tala, Magadhi and Khitauli. Bandhavgarh also has beautiful forts, manmade caves with inscriptions and rock paintings. The national park is the home of more than 37 species of mammals and 250 species of avifauna along with a hundred of species of local and migratory birds. Bandhavgarh is under Wild Protection Act since 1972, so it has the highest number of tigers in India along with it the reserve has a large breeding population of leopards and various deer species, some of the species of Gaur are being reintroduced in the park. Some of the tourists have reported sightings of Indian Bison, Sambar, Caracal, Chital, Barking Deer, Indian Wolf, Striped Hyena, Indian Leopard etc., you will fill very unlucky if you were unable to see such a large variety of wildlife. Bandhavgarh is the heaven of Ornithologist, the most peculiar and rare typical birds can be found zooming around the forest, the most seen uncommon birds are Plum-headed parakeet, Brown fish Owl, Purple Sunbird, Yellow-footed green pigeon, Malabar pied hornbill, Yellow-crowned woodpecker etc. Bandhavgarh serves various tour packages of your convenience to explore the Sanctuary, basically, it includes the Bandhavgarh Hill, the National Part itself, Shesh – Saiya, Panpatha Wildlife Sanctuary, Baghel Museum, Bandhavgarh Ancient Caves, Climber’s Point and Malaya.

Bandhavgarh can be count as one of the Sanctuary, which has diversity in flora and fauna. Once served as the Shikargah for the then King and his guests, the forest is a home of 700 species of birds, mammals, reptiles, and butterflies. The unspoiled natural habitat dates back from King’s era and gives you the filling of historical time while walking or exploring the grasslands. Other than that, the place has a mythological significance, the park derives its name from the fort situated in a hillock, which was said to be a gift by Hindu God Rama to his brother Lakshmana, hence the name Bandhavgarh that translates ‘Brother’s Fort’.

Day 1: Landing in Jabalpur airport, it’s a 4 hr. approx. journey to Bandhavgarh. Sit back and watch the beautiful historical landscape of the mesmerizing countryside. Reaching in the evening, checked in the resort of your choice and enjoy your evening in a laid back manner getting entertained by the resort and eating local cuisine.

Day 2: Start an early morning by taking elephant safari, which is advisable, it will take you into the deeper forest area, and you can’t miss the deer or another wild life grazing around the grassland. You might be lucky enough to catch a tiger prowling around. Spend your day, watching birds or take another jeep safari within the forest. Leave at evening for the airport to catch the avail flight.
