Chenab Lake

#7 of 9 things to do in Auli

Artificial Lake” Review of Chenab Lake. It is good and gets better after snow. But it is not a natural lake, it is artificial.

Chenab Lake is a small crystalline water lake near Joshimath. Untouched and unexplored beauty of Chenab lake attracts many tourists inspite of unbuilt path. Chenab lake can be reach after crossing the last village of Joshimath, Dang village. This lake has magical beauty and still not many tourist visit to it.Due to bad road condition ,lake can be reached by trek onlt to the Dang village.
Trek way to Chenab Lake:
There is no motorable road to Chenab Lake and can only reached via trekking.Vishnu Prayag, located 10 kms from Joshimath, the last point where it is connected to motorable road .Joshimath is well connected to all cites surrounding.
This trek starts towards Thaing Village which is located 8Kms from Prayag.Rest overnight their and continue the uphill towards Dhar Kharak which takes trekkers amidst dense oak forest with few river streams and from Dhar Kharak ,the Chenab meadow is only 4Kms away. The floral blossoms of the lake makes you ethereal.
Best time :May to October
