India's Milk Capital
The Milk capital of India, Anand is one of the most important states of Gujarat. With a different kind of set up, which is semi-urban and semi-rural, it provides a very different kind of experience. A lot of other tourist places are either famous for their natural beauty, historical importance, or utmost cultural experiences, but Anand is famous for an industry which brought it on the economic map of India and marked it important. Thus, it would not be very wise to expect mountains, rivers, or any such natural splendour.
If you are somebody who is fascinated by the science of the making of things, this would probably be no less than heaven for you! It almost feels magical to see chocolates being made in the great AMUL chocolate factory. For somebody who has an eye for detail, the AMUL factories are a treat. The Swami Narayan Temple for sure garners a lot of tourist attention and it truly deserves it, being how splendid it is!
The story of Anand is nothing short of an inspiring tale, only this is 100% true. The establishment of The AMUL Co-operative society happened in 1948. It came into existence because of the heavy exploitation of the milk producers by a private company which enjoyed a lot of freedom given by the then government. This led all the milk producers to talk to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He then advised a local farmer leader Thribhuvan K. Das to form a co-operative society. It also involved a lot of effort from Morarji Desai, who was sent by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to organize the farmers. Thus this collaborative effort of a lot of farmers as well as prominent political personalities led to the set up of AMUL Co-operative society.
It clearly shows how farmers had to fight for their rights and they got support as they were rational in their demands. Since then, AMUL has only continued to grow, expanding its productions manifold, setting up new ventures and doing good to a lot of people.
It is definitely one of the best examples of self-help and unwavering hard work, which when are practised together with honesty, give pure success.
