Wagah Border

#7 of 9 things to do in Amritsar

Signifying the Wagah village through which the Radcliffe line of the India-Pakistan border was drawn, the Wagah Border is one of the most important border gates between the two neighbouring countries. The Eastern half of the village lies in India while the Western half lies in Pakistan. Placed on the Grand Trunk Road, the Wagah Border gate was the only road link between the countries until 1999. The border ceremony, performed by soldiers of the border security force on both sides, is mesmerising and invokes a sense of patriotism in the viewer’s heart.
