A serene hill station detached and secure from the human hustles located deep in the Western Ghats! The Amboli hill range is the perfect getaway to enjoy wild springs, seasonal falls, amazing treks, and the powerful Ghats in its variety and fullest form. This place is also known for its strong Hindu religious history and background. Some of the remote temples here are worth a visit even if you are not a devotee. The legend says there are about 108 temples hidden in this area, yet to be discovered or unearthed. Only a dozen of them is known to the public and open to tourists. The highlight of this destination is that it is a year-round tourist attraction that is beautiful irrespective of the seasons.

When to visit?

This tropical hill station is a year-round tourist destination, with mild summer, cool winter and lush green monsoon. 

Monsoon starts from June and extends to September. This time of the year, Amboli becomes most lively and lush green. The seasonal streams and waterfalls emerge into full form and strength attracting both local and international tourists. The winter begins by December and extends to February when the temperature can drop down to 10-degrees Celsius. Summer here is mild compared to other tropical regions, as the place is in higher altitudes. March to May is the least preferred time of the year as the greenery becomes minimal. The temperature can range from 22 to 40 degrees. 

 

How to reach

Being a hill station, Amboli is easily accessible by road. The railway and airways can also be used but the nearest railway station and airport are located in Sawantwadi and Goa respectively. One has to hire cabs from these places to get to Amboli.

How to Reach by Flight

The Goa international airport is the nearest airport, about 113km from Amboli hill station. There are regular flights to and from here to major cities like Mumbai, Kolkata, Banglore, Delhi, Jaipur, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, and Chandigarh. From Goa airport one can catch a bus or cab to reach Amboli. Mumbai is the next closest airport to Amboli located about 490km from the hill station.

How to Reach by Train

The Sawantwadi railway station, about 30 km from Amboli is the nearest railway station. There are private buses and cabs available for hire from here. The station has regular trains running to and from the major cities of the nation.

How to Reach by Bus

There are regular state buses to Sawantwadi from major cities like Mumbai, Pune, Kolhapur, Goa, and Belgaum. Sawantwadi is well connected to Amboli by private buses and cabs.

How to Reach by Road

The road network in Amboli is well maintained. Cabs and private buses can get you to Amboli from the nearby cities. State buses run from most parts of the country to Sawantwadi - the nearest major city which is almost 30km from Amboli.
