Located only 2 kilometers away from the border of Bangladesh, Agartala is the capital city of the state of Tripura. It is one of the fastest developing cities in the country. It lies on the banks of the river Haora.
It gets its name from the Agarwood trees that are found in the region that is famous for a valuable incense that they produce. Agartala has rich cultural and historical diversity in it that it was ruled dominantly by the Manikya Dynasty. It has many temples and palaces making it a cultural hub of the state. Also, a lot of the population are migrants, making it a mix of cultures.
While being the most developed city in the state, it is still miles away from a typical metropolitan city. So it is bound to offer to you the best of both worlds.
Local Cuisine
Mui Borok, that is what the locals call the cuisine of Tripura with love that pours out of their bellies. One thing you will find in all the kitchens of Tripura is 'Berma' or dried and fermented fish. As it shares its border with Bangladesh, a lot of Bangladeshi influence creeps into the plates of Tripura.
The very famous rice beer preparation of Tripura is called the Chauk and is gulped down in plenty on festive occasions. There are not many restaurants in Agartala but they do offer a number of different cuisines. Some of the best restaurants are:

How to reach
Agartala, despite being a very small area is well connected to the neighbouring states as it is the capital of tripura and is generally a base that tourists and travel enthusiasts use to go around from.
How to Reach by Flight
The Agartala Airport is located 12 kilometers from the city of Singerbhil. It is connected to all major airports like Delhi, Guwahati, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, and Guwahati. It is a short drive from the airport into the city and usually, hotels arrange pick ups.
How to Reach by Train
There are direct trains from Silchar and Lumding in Assam to Agartala. The railway station is located few kilometers from the city center.
How to Reach by Bus
Agartala is connected by bus routes to Guwahati, Silchar and Shillong. It is also connected to Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh, via road.
How to Reach by Road
Traveling to Agartala by road can make for some breathtaking views but is usually not preferred unless Agartala is the starting point to your journey.

Day 1:
Start the day with some history by visiting the Neermahal, Ujjayanta Palace and Jaganath temple located in the palace ground itself. End the day soaking in the orange sunset ay Jampui Hills.
Day 2:
Visit the Wildlife Sanctuary, Tripura Government Museum and the Buddha temple. Chittagong hills are also something you cannot afford to miss.
