Generally, when people think about Southern India, the image that comes into the mind is that of a place full of greenery, beautiful water bodies, green palm and coconut trees, tea and coffee plantations, but there is a lot more to explore down south, where the pristine beauty waits for all.

Wayanad is one such place full of adventures, fun and exciting treks. Treks have been considered one of the best ways to explore the best of nature when human interaction is minimum without any noise and pollution! The beauty is such that you won't need any Instagram filters as well!

To be surrounded by nature is the best feeling in the world and to trek is the closest step to achieve it. There are a lot of treks in Wayanad and to make you experience nature at its best.

1. Chembra Peak

Chembra Peak trek is the most promising trek in Wayanad as it is the highest peak in the city. At a height of 2100 metres above sea level, it offers breathtaking views of the nearby forests and the city. The trek is more or less beginner-friendly owing to the gradual incline. The climb takes about 4 hours, but it is worth every sweat you break. While on the climb the best place to rest is at the beautiful and naturally heart-shaped lake.

The permission from the forest department is a pre-requisite here, which only issues about 200 permits a day. Also, trekking at night is not permitted, so it is wise to reach the base early to reach the summit in time.

The best time to visit would be in winters, during November-February.
